Mountainview Wines

Mountview Wines is a 'pretty as a picture' red cedar barn winery with sheltered picnic tables and barbecue. Tasting room visitors are cosseted amid barrels and winemaking equipment while sampling some of the district's finest wines. This winery won the Best Queensland Red for three consecutive years and Cabernet Merlot, Bubbles and Cerise are specialities. Some awards to date include 'most successful Queensland exhibitor' and best Queensland Shiraz at the 1994 Australian Small Winemakers Show and Gold Medal Shiraz and Bronze Medal Cabernet Merlot and Sparkling at the 1998 Cairns Show Wine Awards. Set among pine trees, the red cedar barn winery enjoys spectacular views and stands on the site of the original Mountview vineyards established in 1921. Visitors entering the wine tasting room are cosseted amidst a range of wine making equipment and oak barrels, providing an authentic winery experience.
